From August 28 to October 1, in the Brasil 21 Convention Center, Brasília, the Annual Conference of the International Association of Peacekeeping Centers - 21st IAPTC was held successfully. The event, promoted by the Brazilia Ministry of Defense, gathered 200 participants, who were representing 52 countries, to discuss subjects related to activities in Peace Operations.
The theme of the 21st IAPTC was “Enhancing Peacekeeping Training Through Partnership, Integration And Evaluation”, while the goal of the event was to promote training partnerships and contributions to strengthen the structures of the regional associations. The Conference was officially opened by the chief of the IAPTC Executive Committee, Colonel Taufik Budi Santoso, from Indonesia, representing the president of the Association, Brigadier General AM Putranto.
On the closing ceremony, Colonel Taufik Santoso handed over the presidency of the Association to General Gláucio Lucas Alves, from the Brazilian Army. According to the current president, the 21st IAPTC was an example of Brazil's commitment towards taking part in peace operations: "The event was excellent, with complex content and logistic quality". In relation to the 22nd IAPTC, the general guaranteed broad support to Bosnia-Herzegovina, next host country, officially presented during the last day of the event.
